Medusa frieze
The Gorgoneion block — one famous face, not dozens
Near the visitor approach stands a celebrated Roman-era Gorgoneion frieze block — an apotropaic Medusa head that has become an iconic photo stop. Marketing copy sometimes implies “many unfinished Medusa inscriptions” across the site; in current scholarly framing this is one famous block, not a scatter of identical carvings.
